JCCP-OAPEC 6th Joint Conference 2024

The 6th Conference with OAPEC (Organization of the Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries) - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
It all started with an approach by the OAPEC Secretariat regarding the possibility of cooperation in May 2009, OAPEC and JCCP thereafter agreed to enter into a cooperative relationship and signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to that effect in 2010 in Tunisia in the presence of Mr. Akihiro Ohata, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and H.E. Mr. Amre Moussa, Secretary General, the League of Arab States.
Since then, JCCP held the 5 conferences with OAPEC, the 6th of which has just been held at Crowne Plaza RDC Hotel & Convention, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from Tue., June 25 to Wed., June 26, 2024, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Khalid Almehaid and H.E. Dr. Nasser Aldossary, Deputy Ministers of the Energy Ministry in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Mr. Kazutaka Kawahara, Chargé d'affaires a.i, Embassy of Japan to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the support of the Energy Ministry in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The theme was “Pathways to Reduce Carbon Emissions in the Petroleum Downstream Industries” and the conference was attended by 100 participants at the venue and 80 participants online.
Four key figures gave commemorative speeches in the opening ceremony, including the above-mentioned Deputy Minister and Chargé d'affaires a.i, Embassy of Japan to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Mr. Jamal Al Loughani, Secretary General of OAPEC, and Mr. Tsuyoshi Nakai, CEO of JCCP.
The technical sessions that were held for 2 days featured 24 presentations divided into 6 sessions and included presentations by 6 Japanese speakers. After each presentation, an active Q&A took place with the audience, who displayed a strong interest in the topics presented.
