Ali Al-Azemi

Sr. Engineer, Inspection - KNPC

Ali holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the United States, awarded in 2001.

He currently works as a Senior Inspection Engineer at KNPC, where he ensures that all stationary mechanical equipment and piping are thoroughly inspected and maintained to ensure optimal reliability and safe plant operations, along with safeguarding the personnel working in or around the units.

His responsibilities include:

  • Conducting inspections and tests on equipment, piping, and pressure-relieving valves during both shutdowns and in-service, utilizing visual inspections, NDT methods, and advanced testing techniques.
  • Ensuring quality assurance during the fabrication and execution of modifications and new projects.
  • Overseeing the preparation of shutdown work lists, advice tickets, and shutdown reports.

Career Experience:

From 2014 to 2017, Ali worked as a Senior Engineer in Process Reliability, where his primary goals were to:

  • Enhance the reliability and availability of equipment.
  • Optimize predictive maintenance work volumes.
  • Optimize inspection intervals to increase plant availability.

Before this, Ali served as a Corrosion Engineer from 2002 to 2014, where his responsibilities included:

  • Conducting specialized studies and tests to identify the cause, type, extent, and rate of corrosion in equipment such as process vessels, columns, boilers, oil heaters, heat exchangers, compressors, storage tanks, valves, piping, and marine/harbor facilities.
  • Identifying potential degradation mechanisms based on process parameters and metallurgy.
  • Participating in RBI study workshops, RBI reassessment workshops, failure analysis investigations, and incident investigations to offer corrosion expertise.
  • Monitoring compliance with product quality standards, including Material Test Certificates (MTC) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).
