VIRTUAL COURSE DELIVERY

 

To ensure an effective virtual learning environment we will ensure that the training is delivered in concise virtual sessions to prevent learner fatigue. Each session will consist of short lecture-based delivery of training content, interspersed with ample time for discussion and question and answer time with the instructors.

 

The training will follow the same highly effective format as is used in the traditional classroom training and all training materials (e.g. slides, handouts, activities) typically used in the classroom course will be made available to participants.


Each session will provide ample opportunity for participants to share their experience, raise operational issues for discussion and ask questions directly to the instructors. Aspentech may use a variety of instructors throughout to ensure GDA benefits from the broadest depth of Aspentech expert knowledge.





 

Aspen HYSYS Process Modeling (EHY101)

 

Course Overview

Build, navigate and optimize steady state simulation models using Aspen HYSYS. Utilize a wide variety of unit operation models and calculation tools to model process equipment. Use templates and sub-flowsheets to streamline and organize simulation models. Explore different means of reporting simulation results, including the use of the Aspen Simulation Workbook.

 

Course Objective

This course will help you prepare for the certification exam and the exam fee is waived with this course.
The design and operation of a process facility typically necessitates that various engineering analyses be performed. Engineers must be able to predict process operating conditions, as well as execute optimization studies to meet their project goals.  Aspen HYSYS has the capability to model complex process facilities and assist engineers in finding the operating conditions that will maximize the value of plant assets (without exceeding plant design limits, e.g., available utilities).  This technology can reduce capital costs by providing accurate thermophysical data for equipment sizing, and by enabling the user to perform sophisticated calculations that would be impractical with less-capable technologies

Aspen HYSYS Advanced Process Modeling Topics (EHY202)


Course Overview

Learn how to use and apply advanced modelling techniques to enhance new and existing Aspen HYSYS flowsheets.

 

Course objectives

This course will help you prepare for the certification exam and the exam fee is waived with this course.
Learn how to use and apply advanced modelling techniques to enhance your simulation. Create models that emulate plant conditions. Create custom column templates, including non-standard configurations. Optimize process conditions to meet one or more process constraints. Perform complex calculations on flowsheet variables using the HYSYS Spreadsheet. Integrate rigorous heat exchanger models into a standard flowsheet. Use the Depressuring Analysis to predict pressures and temperatures inside process vessels during pressure let-downs and emergency conditions.

Aspen HYSYS Dynamics: Introduction to Dynamic Modeling (EHY223)

 

Course Overview

·       Learn how to convert steady-state models into dynamic models to solve process design, plant operation and control problems using Aspen HYSYS Dynamics.

·       Analyze and determine the best control strategy to keep the plant operation at its best using different controller models and strip charts (plots).

·       Rigorously model valve characteristics and define actuator parameters to closely mimic a realistic flow behavior.

·       Dynamically model compressors using performance curves and account for anti-surge controllers to overcome the problems that arise when low flow to the compressor is likely to occur due to process disturbances.

·       Model distillation columns in dynamic mode and vent off excess vapor through pressure safety valves to protect the columns against overpressure scenarios.

·       Learn to automate dynamic models by defining actions to be executed either when a condition is met or when a specific simulation time is reached during the dynamic run in the Event Scheduler.

Aspen Plus: Process Modelling (EAP101)


Course Overview

Develop the skills and techniques required for modeling new and existing processes, in steady state. Build and troubleshoot flowsheet simulations, with distillation columns, reactors, heat exchangers, pressure changers, and separators. Reduce process design time by evaluating various plant configurations with respect to sustainability (costs, material and energy usage, effect on environment). Determine optimal process conditions for new or existing processes and help de-bottleneck processes.

Aspen PIMS: Solving Refinery Planning Problems (RPA201)


Course Overview

  • This course is oriented toward the practical aspects of refinery operations and planning.
  • Challenging class problems have been designed to illustrate advanced modeling techniques which are used to solve real planning problems. Students learn how Aspen PIMS table entries impact the model at the matrix level.
  • This course also covers approaches to debugging and troubleshooting an Aspen PIMS model. One of the workshop sessions leads the student through analytical steps required to debug a model.
